Biography
Valerie is an ICF certified Associate Certified Coach with over 7 years of experience in career and leadership coaching. Valerie served as an internal federal coach from 2017-2022 where she provided individual coaching with clients in a variety of Federal Departments including HHS, HUD, VA, IRS, EPA, NSF, State, Peace Corps, DoD, NOAA, and DOL. She also served as a team coach for the Federal Presidential Management Fellows program and as a coach for students in leadership development programs at the HHS Administration for Children and Families and Substance and Mental Health Administration, the Veteran’s Administration, and NOAA. She served as a support coach to the Federal Internal Coach Training Program (FICTP) in 2018 and to the Treasury Executive Institute/IRS Coach Training Program in 2021, where she provided guidance, mentoring, and support to the students. Valerie graduated from the 2017 FICTP and the 2011 Excellence in Government Leadership Development Program.
Valerie now runs her own career and leadership coaching practice, VMB Coaching. Her coaching approach is simple: she has a genuine passion for helping others. She believes coaching can help you realize your potential — for success and happiness, for finding a job/career that will feed your spirit, and for becoming the best possible version of yourself. Her expertise is coaching managers on topics such as how to achieve professional and career goals, facilitate professional transitions, solve individual leadership challenges, organize and prioritize professional responsibilities, and understand assessment results such as StrengthsFinder, DiSC, and MBTI. She prides herself on her listening skills, empathy, the ability to deliver honest, direct feedback, having integrity, and being trustworthy. She believes her role as a coach is to inspire her clients to want to change, to take them to higher levels, and get results.
Valerie worked 32 years for the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and specialized in health communications, partnership development, and management and leadership. In her roles as Communications Director and as Senior Advisor, she led the development of award-winning websites, strategic communications plans, media events, public speaking trainings, and communication products such as blogs and social media messages.
